TLFG: 16-22 February 2026

Greetings everyone and welcome to the latest TLFG and it's a full edition too!

Yes, somehow I managed to find the time and energy to write a few previews and I hope they prove beneficial.

Non-League Day preparation has kept me busy again. This week's meetings have seen me chat to the National League Trust, the Grounds Management Association and Prostate Cancer UK.

This morning, Monday, I have a call booked with the Football Supporters' Association and then on Thursday, members of the NLD team will take part in an interview with Paul Merson and his son Sam at Hanworth Villa for Sky Sports. Sadly I'm working so can't go to that one.

2026 will see the 15th staging of NLD

Aside from that I also managed to squeeze in another episode of the AAA Actonians podcast which I produce. This week I chatted to the club's Egyptian midfielder Nour Aboul Kheir about her roots in Cairo, growing up in Switzerland and playing for Servette and moving over to England to play for Brentford and now Actonians. My cat even makes an appearance and causes some podcast chaos!

Busy, busy, busy - just how we like it!

In order to get time to write this, the trade off was having to sacrifice going to a game. I actually had a free Saturday but with the kids around and not really wanting to go I stayed home - the sense of loss was real!

It could well be a couple of weeks before I get another chance to see anything else but if I can contribute to this city's thriving football scene by getting you out there, then I'll have done my job.

THE WEEK AHEAD

The Premier League tops the bill this week and most specifically the North London Derby between Spurs and Arsenal.

We've also got games in the EFL, National League and all our other local non-league competitions.

In the women's game, the UEFA Women's Champions League returns and it's the next round of the Women's FA Cup. Lower division clubs like Brentford and Fulham have big league games this week and are playing them at their main stadiums. AFC Wimbledon are doing this too.

As always, please make sure you check with clubs before you travel just in case a game has been called off or the venue or kick-off time has changed - this is highly possible for some of the lower non-league clubs and development matches. Also, please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

Details on all of this week's games can be found on the following match maps. If you've never used them before, please note that when there is more than one match at a specific ground you'll only be able to see individual match pins if you zoom right in. If you don't, the pins obscure each other and you might miss them. To avoid this, you can also scroll down the list of games on the drop down menu at the top of the map page to make sure you get all the information. Games are listed from top to bottom in date order so Monday's games (yellow pin) will appear first and Sunday's (orange pin) last. Games are also ranked in terms of status so the higher the division, the higher up the list they will appear on each day.
Also if you're unfamiliar with the English league structure I indicate the level at which an individual league sits in the national 'pyramid' with the Premier League at the top (Level 1) and various minor leagues at the bottom (Level 10). Typically a top level game will see crowds of anywhere between 20,000-60,000. These figures will gradually decline as you go down the leagues until you get to Levels 8-10 where attendances of 150 or less are most common.

It should also be noted that the top four levels are for fully professional teams. Level 5 has a mixture of professional and semi-professional teams, while Levels 6-10 will see most players paid but it will vary from no more than travel expenses at the bottom, right up to several hundred pounds a week at the top.

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. I no longer write previews for sold out matches or ones where membership is a minimum requirement for tickets so Premier League matches will rarely appear here - they will still be on the match maps though.

Monday 16 February

Isthmian League Premier
Aveley v Chichester City @745pm - the week begins with a decent selection of non-league games. First up we have this seventh-tier game featuring the promotion chasing Millers. The Essex club are second in the table and in the best form over the last 10 games but still a whopping 14 points behind leaders Folkestone Invicta. The visitors have only won one of their last six and should be beaten but the sides last met two weeks ago and only a solitary goal saw Aveley over the line. Tickets are £14 on the gate

Isthmian League Cup Quarter-Final
Redbridge v Crowborough Athletic @745pm - we're getting towards the business end of this competition and these two eighth-tier clubs are the lowest-ranked teams left in it. The Motormen are pushing for promotion in the North Division so should start as favourites. The winners will play Wingate & Finchley in the semi-finals. Tickets are £10 on the gate

ECL Division 1 South
Barkingside v Hutton @745pm - in the 10th tier there's a game which affects both ends of the table as second bottom hosts second top. The 'Side are six points adrift of safety but have two games in hand so it's not over but they'll do superbly well to get anything here. Tickets are available on the gate for around £7-8

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 17 February

Championship
Charlton Athletic v Portsmouth @745pm - two of the sides sitting in the group just above the relegation zone meet at The Valley for a crucial game. The Addicks are unbeaten in three and in better form but lost the reverse fixture 2-1 in late December. London matches for Pompey are effectively derbies and I think they've sold out their allocation. Consequently, you have to have a previous purchasing history if you want to get tickets

League One
Leyton Orient v Plymouth Argyle @745pm - with only two wins from 10, the O's find themselves just one point above the relegation zone. Argyle enjoyed a stonking 4-0 win at Blackpool on Saturday and won 1-0 at Brisbane Road in the EFL Trophy a couple of months ago. Tickets

League Two
Barnet v Swindon Town @745pm - there are two important games in the fourth tier in London on Tuesday. With only one defeat in 10 games, the Bees are more than holding their own since rejoining the EFL over the summer. Third-placed Swindon suffered a surprising loss to lowly Shrewsbury in their last match and will no doubt want to bounce back quickly. Tickets
Bromley v Cheltenham Town @745pm - the Ravens' draw with Notts County on Saturday allowed Cambridge United to close the gap on the leaders to four points. With almost identical goal difference, Bromley need some convincing wins and they could get one here. The Robins are in the lower reaches of the table and are winless in five. Tickets

National League
Sutton United v Woking @745pm - the biggest non-league game of the evening is this Surrey derby at Gander Green Lane. With only two wins from 10, the U's are back in the bottom four. However, they're only a point adrift and have two games in hand. The Cards won 2-0 at Truro in their last match and are in the top half. Tickets

National League Cup Semi-Final
Boreham Wood v Truro City @730pm - I debated whether or not to include this game as it's such an unpopular competition and both teams have far more important things to play for at either end of the table. If you don't know, this competition began last season as a kind of a consolation prize for replays being removed from the FA Cup. Premier League academy teams play against National League sides in a group stage before the knockout rounds begin. Leeds United U21s are the reigning champions but lost in the group stage this time. The winners of this tie will play Tamworth or West Ham United U21 in the final. Tickets are £10 which is half the normal price at this venue

National League South
Enfield Town v Horsham @745pm - I went to this match a couple seasons ago when both were in the Isthmian Premier. Now both in the sixth tier, the clubs are experiencing different fortunes. The Towners are in trouble. Bottom of the division and winless in 10, things are looking pretty dark. Horsham aren't in much better form but they won the reverse fixture in Sussex 1-0 in October. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier
Wingate & Finchley v Potters Bar Town @745pm - elsewhere in north London, there's a big relegation six-pointer at Summers Lane. Following the tragic death of a Chichester player at their ground in September, Wingate played all their league matches away for two months until changes were made to their stadium. Weirdly, they won almost all of them and didn't lose any to move into promotion contention. Since coming home, they've won one in three months. Now in the bottom four, they badly need to reverse that trend and with PBT just below them in the table, now's the time to start. Tickets

Southern League Premier South
Hanwell Town v Farnham Town @745pm - also in the seventh tier, we have another game affecting both ends of the table. I think this match has been postponed at least twice and with bad weather still forecast, it could go again. However, if it does go ahead then you'll get to see the relegation threatened Geordies take on promotion contenders Farnham. Tickets

CCL Premier South
Tooting & Mitcham United v Abbey Rangers @745pm - with Cobham a ridiculous 27 points clear at the top, it's now all about who joins them in the eighth tier via the play-offs. These two are both in the top four and need to keep winning to cement their places. Tickets are £8 on the gate
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 18 February

UEFA Women's Champions League
Arsenal v OH Leuven @8pm - the biggest crowd of the night should be found at Boreham Wood's ground where the Gunners should make sure of their place in the next phase of this competition. Having won the away leg 4-0, the reigning champions should be feeling confident. If they do go through, they'll face old rivals Chelsea in the quarter-finals. Tickets

FAWNL Division 1 South East
Fulham v QPR @745pm - there could also be a decent turnout at Craven Cottage for this big derby in the women's game. The hosts are top and favourites to win this division after beating nearest rivals Norwich City last week. They have also yet to lose a league game this season but one of only two sides to take a point off them are QPR who held them to a 1-1 draw earlier in the season. The R's are down in fifth and realistically out of the promotion race but they'd dearly love to throw a spanner in the works here. Tickets

Premier League International Cup
Crystal Palace v Borussia Monchengladbach @7pm - the most eye-catching men's match of the night takes place in this U21 competition at Sutton United's ground in south London. All the games in the group stage have been played except this one. It's important too as the Eagles need to win to go through. They'll also need to win by two goals or more to make sure. To make things that bit tougher, their opponents are currently top of this eight-team group but it's incredibly tight. If Palace do win by two goals or more, Borussia will slip from first to third and go out. Tickets are £5

Isthmian League South Central
Southall v Ascot United @745pm - this relegation six-pointer in west London is the highest level non-league game on Wednesday. The 'All are in the bottom three but only two points behind the visitors who sit just above the relegation line - a huge game for both. This match has been moved to Bedfont Sports and tickets should be around £10 on the gate

SCEFL Premier
Erith & Belvedere v Bearsted @745pm - there are a couple of good options in the ninth tier and I've gone for this over the ESL game at SOUL Tower Hamlets because it should get a bigger crowd and it's being played in a proper football ground and not an athletics stadium. The Deres are being kept out of the play-off places by goal difference and Bearsted are one of the teams who are just ahead of them. Crucially E&B have played more games than the teams immediately above them so a loss here could be really damaging. Tickets are £8 on the gate
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 19 February

FAWNL Division 1 South East
Actonians v London Bees @745pm - the only senior game I'm aware of on Thursday is this women's match. The A's are really inconsistent at the moment and bedding in a new management team but are due a big result and beating third place London Bees would definitely be impressive. The visitors are a bit up and down themselves but come into this off a solid 4-1 win over MK Dons. When the sides last met in late October at The Hive, the A's were again looking for a pick-me-up after a heavy cup loss to Watford and won 2-1 so they know they can do it. This game is scheduled to be played at North Greenford United but the pitch really struggles during wet spells and it could well be moved to somewhere like Rectory Park or Bedfont Sports. Tickets MATCH OFF
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 20 February

Essex Senior League
Woodford Town v Frenford @745pm - the top level game in London on Friday is this ninth-tier match and I regret to say it's not hugely mouthwatering as it features two teams who are really struggling for form. Woodford have been there or thereabouts in the promotion race in recent years and started very strongly again but three wins from 10 have seen them slip to eighth. Still only four points shy of the play-off places, their season isn't over by any means. They beat Romford last time out and will be hopeful of building some momentum as Frenford are bottom with only three wins all season. Tickets are £7 on the gate

UPDATE - the game between Southall and Raynes Park Vale on Saturday has been brought forward to Friday night and is now being played at Uxbridge FC at 745pm

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 21 February

Premier League
West Ham United v AFC Bournemouth @530pm - with loads written about Premier League games and tickets almost impossible to get, I'm going to limit my previews when it comes to the top flight as they're very little use to the football traveller. Brentford and Chelsea are both at home on Saturday but unless you have membership or want to pay big sums for hospitality, then you're not getting in. You will, however, be able to get into London Stadium for this. With a decent 10 points from five games, the Hammers' hopes of avoiding relegation have received a significant boost. Now only three points adrift of safety, they face a midtable Cherries side who are back in great form after suffering a worrying slump. If you do the football pools, these sides have produced a score draw on the last five occasions and it could well end that way again. Tickets

Championship
Watford v Derby County @3pm - with Millwall selling out their game against Portsmouth, this is your next best option in the second tier. The race for the play-offs is really tight. The Hornets are down in 12th but only three points behind the Rams who occupy the all-important sixth place. Tickets are available but there aren't many left so don't delay!

League One
AFC Wimbledon v Bradford City @3pm - sadly the Dons are significantly closer to the bottom four than the teams at the top so their priority is now avoiding the drop. The Bantams are in the top four but well adrift of the automatic promotion spots, so securing a play-off spot would appear to be their main goal at this stage. Tickets

National League
Boreham Wood v Forest Green Rovers @3pm - two of the top six in the fifth tier meet at Meadow Park in the pick of the games at this level. The Wood were right up in title contention a few weeks ago but a run of four consecutive defeats has seen them fall well behind the top two. A place in the post-season is still theirs to lose though. FGR, managed by Robbie Savage, were also right up there but they've fallen away too and are two points behind the hosts. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier
Dartford v Cray Wanderers @3pm - two local rivals in south-east London meet at Princes Park for one of the matches of the day in the seventh tier. A whopping crowd of over 1,200 watched the reverse fixture in October and with only a point separating them just outside the play-off zone, it should draw a sizeable attendance again. Tickets

Southern League Premier South
Walton & Hersham v Basingstoke Town @3pm - there should also be a good turnout for this South Western Railway derby in Surrey. The hosts are nine points clear at the top with a game in hand, so after coming close in recent seasons, promotion looks highly likely to be coming their way. The visitors could do with a win or two to make sure of avoiding the drop. Tickets

CCL Premier North
British Airways v North Greenford United @3pm - nothing really stands out for me in the eighth tier but in the ninth we have this groundshare derby at Berkeley Fields. With Actonians also sharing this ground on Sundays, the pitch here has really struggled in the recent wet weather so neither side has played many home games recently. BA are down in 16th whilst NGU, the landlords, are still in with a chance of the play-offs if they can get the games on. If it goes ahead, tickets will be available on the gate for £9

London Senior Trophy Semi-Final
AFC Greenwich Borough v Tooting Bec @3pm - two 10th tier teams from the SCEFL Division 1 meet at the University of Greenwich campus near Eltham for a place in the final of this competition. Greenwich are currently second in the division and have the games in hand to go top so they'll start as favourites. The winners will face Croydon or Wimbledon Casuals in the final
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 22 February

Premier League
The derby between Spurs and Arsenal dominates football in the capital this week but if you haven't got a ticket yet then you're not likely to get one without spending a small fortune. I was hopeful that some tickets would be available for Crystal Palace and Wolves but having just logged into the Eagles' booking system, even with my previous purchasing history, I wasn't allowed to get any so I guess you might struggle too

Women's FA Cup Fifth Round
Your best bet of watching live football in London on Sunday will be in the women's game and there are three ties in this competition featuring some of the country's top sides. The winners of each tie receive £80,000, the losers £20,000

Arsenal v Bristol City @1pm - the Gunners are the most successful side in the history of the men's and women's FA Cup. Having won this competition 14 times, they're well clear of next best side Southampton WFC who only have eight wins. However, it's been 10 years since they last won it. Renee Slegers' side are on a bit of a roll at the moment beating Manchester City and Chelsea in recent weeks so they should be strong contenders. The Robins play in the division below and should be beaten. This is being played at Boreham Wood. Tickets are available but the ground is small and often sells out so buy in advance
Chelsea v Manchester United @130pm - this match between two of the WSL's top clubs is arguably the tie of the round. These two sides have dominated this competition in recent years. They met in last season's final, which Chelsea won, and United beat Spurs to win it in 2024. The Blues won the previous three before that. This is being played at Kingsmeadow, another small ground, so you're also advised to buy your tickets in advance
West Ham United v Brighton & Hove Albion @12pm - in the earliest game of the day, 2019 finalists West Ham will be hopeful of sealing a place in the quarter-finals. Two wins from four have got them out of the relegation zone and although the Seagulls are above them, their form is not as good. This is being played at Dagenham & Redbridge and tickets are available

FAWNL Southern Premier
AFC Wimbledon v Plymouth Argyle @2pm - if you need to tick Plough Lane off your list, then the Dons' women are getting a run out there in this third-tier game. Second from bottom and battling to avoid the drop, they face a tough afternoon against an Argyle side who are second and going for the title. Tickets
Watford v Cheltenham Town @2pm - currently top and looking to hold off Plymouth, the Hornets have moved their women's games to Uxbridge FC for the rest of the season. AFC Bournemouth are also in contention in what could be a thrilling run in. Given it's so tight, Watford really can't afford to drop any points against the Robins who are in the bottom five. Tickets

L&SE Women's League Premier
Brentford v Saltdean United @2pm - given I'm running out of time and the day's fourth-tier matches look like being fairly inconsequential midtable games, this hugely important match in the fifth tier has been looming large on the women's football calendar for a while. There's another three-way title battle in this division between Brentford, Saltdean and Dartford. The Bees are top but have played three more games than Saltdean and five more games than Dartford. As a result, if the hosts lose this then Saltdean will end the day three points behind with three games in hand. With only one team going up, that's not something Brentford want to contemplate - they've already lost to Dartford too. Given the enormity of the game, it's being played at the GTech and tickets are free

TLFG: 9-15 February 2026

Greetings one and all and even bigger apologies than last week as this is going up a whole day late!

The weekend and Monday were very busy as work, family life and Non-League Day (NLD) have kept me tied up.

The big things on the NLD front last week were a trip to the Premier League's HQ in Paddington for our latest planning meeting but there was an unusual request from the Basque Country too.

On Tuesday I got an email from one of the team at Athletic Bilbao asking me to record a video address to the conference they run ahead of the Basque Non-League Day.

Just over a month to go!

Over 70 clubs attended and I ended up producing a two-minute rallying cry which was broadcast to the assembled representatives in the main hall at the club's training ground.

Apparently it went down well, so hopefully it will be a great success.

I've got a few days off coming up but I'm not sure what football I'll get to watch yet.

A friend offered me a ticket for Tottenham v Newcastle tonight but sadly I don't finish work in time.

I think that's about it from me but before I go, many thanks to David T from Manchester and Andrew T from London for donating to TLFG's coffee-drinking fund - it's hugely appreciated.

Have a great week!

THE WEEK AHEAD

The Premier League tops the bill this week but we also have some big games in the FA Cup, EFL, National League and Women's Super League. There's also a quarter-final tie in the FA Sunday Cup over in east London too.

All in all, there are well over 100 games to choose from within the M25 over the next seven days so there's no reason to get bored.

As always, please make sure you check with clubs before you travel just in case a game has been called off or the venue or kick-off time has changed - this is highly possible for some of the lower non-league clubs and development matches. Also, please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

TLFG: 2-8 February 2026

Welcome one and all to this week's TLFG.

I had fully intended to write a much fuller piece this time but other activities have caught up again so you're going to have to fend for yourself with only the match maps to help you.

In all honesty, I'm under pressure to rationalise this blog.

As I've mentioned before, it takes around 8-10 hours a week to put this together and after nearly 15 years, it's starting to take its toll.

Since I began writing in 2011, I've had two kids, Non-League Day (NLD) has really taken off and now I have podcasts and programmes to produce for Actonians too.

The match maps are fun to produce and keep me abreast of everything but the previews are becoming a bit of a grind, particularly for Premier League games which loads of other people cover. Not only that but tickets are hardly ever available to non-members or cost a small fortune if they are.

Corinthians on the attack against Gotham

When this blog started, I used to do a 'Top 10' of games to watch over the week, rather than a daily digest - I might go back to that again.

I've thought about providing a list of recommendations purely consisting of lower league and women's matches that might otherwise go under the radar.

Some have suggested I put up some kind of pay wall or start a subscription service but that would increase the pressure to deliver and I didn't get into this to make money, purely to promote football in this great city.

Or I might do nothing radical at all and just keep churning out the match maps with a bit of personal stuff about what I've been up to.

Either way, TLFG has become a big part of my life which has given me some great experiences so it will keep going in some form.

Anyway, what have I been up to in the last week?

I went to Brentford on Wednesday for the semi-finals of the FIFA Women's Champions Cup.

Brazilian club Corinthians started as underdogs as they took on US side Gotham FC but defended doggedly and nicked a late winner to the joy of their wonderful fans who put on a great show throughout the game despite the lunchtime kick-off.

One of the highlights of the experience, which other commentators have also mentioned, was the presence of a couple of groups of primary school children who ended up sitting among the Corinthians ultras.

There is great footage of them jumping up and down with the hundreds of black-and-white clad South American fans and then shouting with delight when their captain Gabi Zanotti came to celebrate with them at the end.

The GTech is a great venue for games like this - it's the right size, modern and is easily accessible by public transport. All in all, I really enjoyed myself.

Ultimately, Corinthians played Arsenal in Sunday's final at the Emirates and took them all the way to extra time before losing 3-2.

The Gunners pocketed a whopping $2.3m (£1.7m) for winning whilst Corinthians went home with $1m (£730,000).

To put this in context, the Women's Champions League winners get €500,000 (£430,000).

The week ahead sees the build-up to Non-League Day (NLD) continue with a big meeting at Premier League HQ on Wednesday.

As part of this year's NLD, the Essex Senior League have announced a groundhop around some of their games - with the fixtures set up so that pretty much every one is a local derby, it should be a great part of the country to celebrate the day.

I think that's about it from me but before I go, many thanks to Nicholas N from Illinois, USA for donating to TLFG's coffee-drinking fund - it's hugely appreciated.

Have a great week!

TLFG: 26 January - 1 February 2026

Welcome one and all to this week's TLFG.

After last week's groundhopping in Germany, this week's activities have been way more mundane.

Lots of work and preparation for Non-League Day.

With the match map finished, I now have to complete a document for the Premier League to send to all their clubs in an effort to get them to promote matches locally to them.

Games in this competition take place on Wednesday and Sunday

We're also hoping to arrange a staggered groundhop 'oop North' so watch this space.

As a result of this, the blog will be pretty minimal again this week - apologies.

I do, however, have a ticket for the big event of the week in women's football (more on that below) and am looking forward to my first game at the GTech since the Women's Euros of 2022.

Anyone else going?

Have a great week!

THE WEEK AHEAD

The Champions League tops the bill this week but we also have some big games in the Premier League, EFL, National League and Women's Super League.

London has also been chosen as the host of the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup.

Beginning at Brentford on Wednesday, Corinthians (Brazil) will play Gotham (USA) in the first semi-final at lunchtime. Then at 6pm, Arsenal take on AS FAR from Morocco.

The Emirates Stadium will host the third-place play-off and final back-to-back on Sunday. Tickets for all games are available at very reasonable prices

TLFG: 19-25 January 2026

Welcome one and all to this week's TLFG.

After a midweek groundhopping trip to Germany, Non-League Day preparation and various family commitments over the weekend, this week's piece is just maps again - apologies.

My Bundesliga mini-break saw me visit Signal Iduna Park to watch Borussia Dortmund beat Werder Bremen 3-0 on Tuesday and the day after I headed east to see Wolfsburg snatch a late winner to beat St Pauli 2-1.

I also took in the German Football Museum in Dortmund and the Volkswagen AutoMuseum in Wolfsburg.

Meeting the locals in Wolfsburg

It was great to tick off both of these grounds which were impressive in their own ways. The Dortmund fans were really friendly and there was little segregation inside the ground with Werder fans all over the place.

The vibe was a bit different in Wolfsburg but I got to meet their mascot and enjoy a cheese pretzel, chips and kinderpunsch to keep me warm on a freezing night - even the canal by the Volkswagen factory had ice on it!

As a railway man, it was also good to experience the DB ICE train service for the first time. As a railway employee here I qualified for free travel which was a big bonus.

Many thanks to my friend Ashley in Dusseldorf who facilitated the whole thing.

THE WEEK AHEAD

The Champions League tops the bill this week but we also have some big games in the Premier League, EFL, Natonal League and Women's Super League.

TLFG: 12-18 January 2026

Greetings and welcome to the latest edition of TLFG.

It's another short one without a Daily Digest as I've been swamped with work and am heading off to Germany on Tuesday to watch some games - Borussia Dortmund tomorrow and Wolfsburg on Wednesday.

I finally got to see my first game of 2026 on Sunday when I headed to Rectory Park in Northolt to watch Actonians play Norwich City.

As expected, the Norfolk club won 3-0 to keep themselves in the race for the title.

I ended up watching the game with QPR's assistant manager (a former A's player), one of their new signings (a former A's player) and our former captain. The manager of leaders Fulham was also in attendance at the game which was of key importance for teams at the top of the division.

Before I forget, you may have seen already, but TLFG now has an Instagram page so please give it a follow if you're on that platform.

Anyway, that's all I've got time for at the moment - enjoy your week

TLFG: 5-11 January 2026

Greetings and welcome to the first TLFG piece of 2026 - Happy New Year to you all.

I hope the festive period was good for you. I got to go to a sum total of zero games as I worked most of it.

A costly boiler repair means I had to work a night shift on New Year's Eve and means I'm going in again shortly, on Sunday night, for some more overtime.

Tickets are available for this big derby

Consequently, I've only managed some previews for the early part of the week but I have Monday off to try and add some more (update - previews are now available up to Friday).

Freezing weather has hit London over the last few days and it's likely to have an impact on other games, particularly at non-league level, as the week progresses so check if games are on before you travel.

THE WEEK AHEAD

The Premier League tops the bill this week but it's also the Third Round of the FA Cup which sees all the remaining lower league teams go into the draw with the biggest clubs in the land.

At non-league level, it's also the Fourth Round of the FA Trophy - a weird bit of scheduling alongside the FA Cup but there are also games in all the other leagues at this level.

In the women's game, the Women's Super League returns from its winter break with Arsenal hosting Manchester United at the Emirates on Saturday being the highlight.

As always, please make sure you check with clubs before you travel just in case a game has been called off or the venue or kick-off time has changed - this is highly possible for some of the lower non-league clubs and development matches. Also, please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Monday 5 January

CCL Division 1
RB Kensington v Hillingdon Borough @745pm - there's only scheduled to be one game on Monday but with temperatures remaining low, it's unlikely to go ahead. If it does, RBK need a win to get out of the relegation zone. Although in the bottom two, they've got games in hand on all those immediately above them. Hillingdon are bang in the middle of the table but lost 1-0 in the reverse fixture in August. RBK have no online presence so check Hillingdon's social media updates for whether the game is on or not. Tickets should be around £7-8 on the gate MATCH OFF

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 6 January

Premier League
West Ham United v Nottingham Forest @8pm - these two are in bad way right now. The Hammers suffered the ignominy of becoming the first team to lose to bottom club Wolves on Saturday. They're in the bottom three, four points adrift of safety and nine without a win - it looks really bleak. People were singing Sean Dyche's praises just before Christmas but a disastrous festive season has seen them lose four in a row and now sit just above Forest in the table. It's a huge game for both. Tickets

Premier League International Cup
West Ham United v Anderlecht @7pm - if you can't afford Premier League prices then you could watch the Hammers' U21s instead. We're still in the group stage at the moment. Sadly, it seems West Ham's youngsters are even worse than the senior team. Currently bottom of their eight-team group with zero points, they have to win or they'll go out. This is being played at Dagenham & Redbridge and admission should be around £5

National League South
Enfield Town v Hampton & Richmond Borough @745pm - in north London we have another relegation six-pointer between two of the bottom four. Hampton saw their game postponed on Saturday whilst the Towners travelled down to Hampshire and lost 3-2 to AFC Totton, to go bottom of the form table. Five points adrift of safety, they really can't afford to lose this. Tickets MATCH OFF

Isthmian League South Central
Raynes Park Vale v Leatherhead @745pm - game of the day in the eighth tier takes place at Grand Drive. RPV are often among the leading group but come into this in ninth. Their form has been iffy recently but won 3-2 against Metropolitan Police on Saturday. Here they welcome the leaders who have only lost two league games and have a big FA Trophy match to look forward to at the weekend. With the sides also on the same train line about 25 minutes apart, there's a bit of a derby flavour to this too. Tickets are £10 on the gate MATCH OFF
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 7 January

Premier League
Brentford v Sunderland @730pm - it's a big night of Premier League football with three games on in London. The Bees continue to go from strength to strength with Sunday's 4-2 win at Everton firing them up to seventh and taking them to third in the London club rankings. The Black Cats drew again at Spurs to slip just below Brentford on goal difference - a draw looks like the most likely outcome here. Tickets are only available to members but some hospitality options look like they could be available but you have to login for more info and I don't have time for that right now
Crystal Palace v Aston Villa @730pm - the Eagles are experiencing a bit of a slump at the moment with Sunday's loss at Newcastle making it five without a win. The same can't be said of Villa who responded to their humbling loss at Arsenal by beating to Nottingham Forest to stay third, moving level on points with Manchester City. Although the hosts' form is poor, they're unbeaten in six against Unai Emery's team and seem to know just what to do to beat them. Incredibly rarely for a Palace home league game, tickets are on sale to non-members
Fulham v Chelsea @730pm - the game of the night is this west London derby at Craven Cottage as two of the closest neighbours in the Premier League meet for the second time this season. Historically, the Blues have utterly dominated these matches with Fulham winning only three of the 37 league matches played between them since 2000. However, two of those have come in the last three years. Marco Silva's side are also in good form with their draw against Liverpool at the weekend making it five without defeat. This match is also taking place at a time when Chelsea have just sacked their manager and, at the time of writing, have yet to announce a replacement. Interim boss Calum McFarlane saw his side grab a very decent draw at Manchester City on Sunday so he seems a capable replacement for now. Tickets, albeit very pricey, are available in the new Riverside Stand

Premier League International Cup
Chelsea v Benfica @7pm - at Kingsmeadow, the Blues' U21 side are in action against Portuguese opposition. Like West Ham, they've also lost both of their games so far and are bottom of their group. From my understanding of the rules, I think they're already out but defeat will definitely kill them off. Tickets are £4

Isthmian League South Central
Kingstonian v Ascot United @745pm - the top level non-league match of the night can be found at Grand Drive. The K's have struggled in this eighth-tier division this season and are in the bottom four. Three points adrift of safety, they do have two games in hand so they've got a chance. Ascot are in midtable so are beatable. Tickets are £10 on the gate

Essex Senior League
SOUL Tower Hamlets v Buckhurst Hill @745pm - leaders Little Oakley play on Tuesday night against STH's co-groundsharers Sporting Bengal United. If they drop any points, STH will go top if they win this. Although in midtable, the visitors managed a very dramatic 2-2 draw when they played back in July and they're also top of the current form table so this could be some game. Tickets MATCH OFF
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 8 January

Premier League
Arsenal v Liverpool @8pm - the Emirates would appear to be the place to be on Thursday as the reigning Premier League champions travel to the current leaders. The Gunners had a good festive period and are now six points clear at the top. Although the visiting Reds are unbeaten in eight, they've drawn four of those games and seem very very unlikely to retain their title. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 1-0 in August but haven't won a league game here since 2022. Tickets are only available to members but hospitality is available from £1,225

FA Youth Cup Fourth Round
Watford v Charlton Athletic @7pm - if a four-figure sum to watch football doesn't seem like good value to you, then you could head to Vicarage Road instead for this U18 game. The Addicks won 3-2 at Liverpool in the last round so that makes them favourites for me. Tickets
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 9 January

Premier League 2
Arsenal v West Bromwich Albion @7pm - there's a bit more development football for you to enjoy in this U21 league at the beginning of the weekend. I say 'enjoy' but neither of these sides have been particularly impressive this season. There are 29 teams in this competition - the Gunners are 15th and the Baggies 27th. This is being played at Boreham Wood and admission is often free but be prepared to pay a few quid just in case

Isthmian League Premier
Cray Wanderers v Aveley @745pm - we've an unusual bonus double bill of games in this seventh-tier division on Friday. First up is this mouthwatering game between two of the top six. With three wins from four, London's oldest club are up to fourth. However, the visitors are looking even better. Without a league loss since the 15 September, the Millers are sixth but have games in hand on all of those above them. I have to caveat this by saying they have another match before this on Tuesday at leaders Folkestone, who were the last side to beat them. If they win in Kent, they'll go above Cray into fourth and make this game even bigger! Tickets
Hashtag United v Dartford @745pm - in the other game at Parkside, we have a match which affects both ends of the table. The Tags are in the bottom four but four points from their last two games has given them a real chance, with only goal difference keeping them in the relegation zone. The Darts, on the other hand, are in the top six and right in the mix with Aveley and Cray Wanderers so need to win to stay in the play-off race. Tickets are £12 on the gate
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 10 January

FA Cup Third Round
Boreham Wood v Burton Albion @3pm - one of the last non-league clubs left in the competition, The Wood have become regulars at this stage. With four appearances since 2021 and a run to the Fifth Round in 2022, they know what it takes to make an impact. Well in the hunt for the National League title, they're in great form and League One strugglers Burton have real reason to fear their trip to Meadow Park. Tickets
Fulham v Middlesbrough @3pm - both of these sides have been to the final during my lifetime but neither won and it's been a long time since either were there. As the Premier League side, the Cottagers should start as favourites but Boro are second in the Championship and have a chance. Tickets
Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa @545pm - two of the most successful clubs in FA Cup history meet at the THS. With 20 final appearances and 15 wins between them, these clubs are competition royalty. Again, it's been a long time since either won but on current form, Villa must be favourites to progress. Tickets are only available to members and their guests
Charlton Athletic v Chelsea @8pm - the day finishes with a classic FA Cup contest with a lower division club hosting one of the biggest clubs in the land. To top it all, it's a London derby. The Addicks made the final two years in a row just after World War Two and won one of them. The Blues have made 16 finals and won eight. The odds look stacked against the hosts but it's a period of upheaval for Chelsea with Liam Rosenior coming in as new boss during the week and they're winless in five. Tickets are only available to members

League One
Leyton Orient v Cardiff City @3pm - the O's are in a bad way. With four defeats from five and only eight wins all season, the east London club are just a point above the relegation zone. It's not going to get any easier here as Cardiff are top. When the sides last met in October, the Bluebirds claimed the points, winning a thriller 4-3. Tickets

Women's Super League
Arsenal v Manchester United @1230pm - the women's top flight returns with this big match at the Emirates. Given the tiny margins in this division, the fact these sides are third and fourth but pretty much out of the title race already tells you a lot. Realistically, finishing third and claiming a Champions League spot is probably the most realistic target for these two. Tickets

National League
Sutton United v York City @3pm - back in the men's game, we have a match of huge importance at either end of the table. The U's are winless in three and in the relegation zone but only on goal difference so a point will be really valuable. Getting it will be tough though as the Minstermen are only three points off the top with two games in hand. Tickets

FA Trophy Fourth Round
Wealdstone v Dagenham & Redbridge @3pm - in an unusual bit of scheduling, it's the next round of this FA competition too. This one is exclusively for teams in the fifth to eighth tiers. The Stones won this way back in 1985 and haven't been back to Wembley since. The Daggers made it in 1997 but lost to Woking. Now a division below the hosts, D&R will start as underdogs. Tickets
Hornchurch v AFC Telford United @3pm - the Urchins caused a massive upset by winning this in 2021 while still a seventh-tier team. Promoted to the National League South since then and among the frontrunners this season, I have them as favourites against midtable opposition from the parallel National League North. Tickets
Walton & Hersham v Brackley Town @3pm - when it comes to seventh-tier teams who have a shot, the Swans are definitely right up there. Currently top of the Southern League Premier South, W&H stuffed Sutton United 4-1 in the last round and picked off sixth tier Farnborough the round before that. The Saints are towards the wrong end of the fifth tier so are vulnerable but won the FA Trophy in 2018 so have some pedigree in the competition. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier
Carshalton Athletic v Folkestone Invicta @3pm - in the seventh and eighth tiers, a number of divisional leaders are in town on Saturday. The Robins are struggling towards the relegation zone and could end up in the bottom four if they lose. Kent club Folkestone have opened an 11-point lead at the top but have lost their last two. Tickets

Isthmian League South East
Beckenham Town v Three Bridges @3pm - the Becks have been a bit of a boom/bust club over recent seasons - either challenging for promotion and titles or struggling badly. Sadly, this is another season of struggle. Second from bottom and with two wins from their last 10, they're six points from safety. Sussex club Three Bridges, who play near Gatwick Airport, are top with an eight-point lead and look like strong favourites here. Tickets should be around £10 on the gate

Southern League Division 1 Central
Rayners Lane v Leighton Town @3pm - as I understand it, the Lane received a big cut to their funding for this season and have struggled badly as a result. Like Beckenham, they're second bottom in this eighth-tier division too. The visitors are five points clear at the top but are under pressure from Hitchin Town who are second and in better form. Tickets should be around £10 on the gate
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 11 January

FA Cup Third Round
West Ham United v QPR @230pm - the game of the day is this derby at the London Stadium. As we all know, the Hammers are having a terrible time in the Premier League. Many feel that the R's, from the Championship, could be the latest to heap humiliation on them. QPR's fans certainly have faith, buying up their entire 9,000 allocation in just eight minutes. They were similarly hopeful last season when they travelled to struggling Leicester City but lost 6-2. You also have to factor in that the west Londoners have THE worst record of any club in the Third Round, losing over 50 times at this stage. It could be a cup classic or the moment West Ham kickstart their season. Tickets in the home end are available and start from £10

Women's Super League
Chelsea v West Ham United @12pm - with only one win from the four games going into the winter break, the Blues' title hopes took a big hit. Six points adrift of leaders Manchester City, they can't afford too many more slip-ups. They begin the year against a struggling Hammers team who have new boss Rita Guarino taking charge for the first time. As a player she won 99 caps for Italy and as a manager, won the Italian title four times with Juventus. Her last job saw her in the top job at Inter Milan so this is quite a change for the Turin-born coach. This is being played at Kingsmeadow and tickets are available
Tottenham Hotspur v Leicester City @12pm - Spurs finished 2025 in an unexpected fifth place, firmly in the race for a Champions League place. A win here against a side in the bottom four will take them into the top three after Arsenal and Manchester United could only draw with each other on Saturday. Both sides have made some moves in the transfer window, with Tottenham legend Ashleigh Neville's move to the Foxes being the most notable. This is being played at Leyton Orient and tickets will be available on arrival

FAWNL Southern Premier
AFC Wimbledon v Oxford United @2pm - after four weeks off, the Dons women were supposed to return to action with this match at Plough Lane last Sunday but the pitch wasn't up to it. It's been re-arranged but it's now at Tooting & Mitcham United's ground. It's been a season of struggle for the south Londoners and with no game last week, Gwalia United's win over Billericay put them back in the relegation zone. Oxford have won their last two league games and beat high-flying Plymouth in the FA Cup in their last game so they head to SW17 in some form. Tickets

FAWNL Division 1 South East
Actonians v Norwich City @2pm - this should have been played before Christmas but the weather intervened. The pitch at Berkeley Fields is still not good enough so the league has allowed the game to be switched back to the A's old home at Rectory Park in Northolt. Norwich are second and seemingly the only side with a realistic chance of stopping Fulham winning the title. They beat Actonians 4-0 in Norfolk on the opening day of the season and although some key players were missing that day and are back now, the hosts will do well to get a point. Tickets
London Bees v Chesham United @2pm - the side best placed to challenge the Canaries for second are London Bees. Third at the time of writing, they should be really confident of picking up three points here. Chesham are bottom and have yet to win a game. This is being played at The Hive complex near Canons Park Tube station. Tickets
