TLFG: 3-9 November 2025

Welcome one and all to this week's guide and apologies for being a day late.

I think it's fair to say my Actonians commitments might be taking up more time than I anticipated!

Work on this blog used to account for about eight hours of my week but it's become a bit more comprehensive since I made that estimation so it could easily be 10 hours by now.

On top of that, I'm now producing a match programme and a podcast for the club.

After a run of home games, it's now five weeks until the next one so hopefully things will calm down a bit.

This season's NLD is just over four months away

However, Non-League Day preparations are now starting to pick up with meetings scheduled with various partners including the Premier League and Prostate Cancer UK.

I know Athletic Bilbao are planning to take part again and there are very promising signs that we could get some co-operation from Italy for the first time this year - hopefully we'll know more by the end of the month.

Anyway, it's match maps only from me for now but I will try and add at least a weekend preview as I've got a couple of days off.

It's actually my birthday on Wednesday and I'm marking it by popping round the corner to watch QPR v Southampton in a Championship game.

Have a great week everyone.

THE WEEK AHEAD

This week's highlights include matches in the Premier League, EFL and it's also the Second Round proper of the FA Vase.

In the women's game, the WSL returns with the highlight being the big derby between Arsenal and Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

As always, please make sure you check with clubs before you travel just in case a game has been called off or the venue or kick-off time has changed - this is highly possible for some of the lower non-league clubs and development matches. Also, please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

Details on all of this week's games can be found on the following match maps. If you've never used them before, please note that when there is more than one match at a specific ground you'll only be able to see individual match pins if you zoom right in. If you don't, the pins obscure each other and you might miss them. To avoid this, you can also scroll down the list of games on the drop down menu at the top of the map page to make sure you get all the information. Games are listed from top to bottom in date order so Monday's games (yellow pin) will appear first and Sunday's (orange pin) last. Games are also ranked in terms of status so the higher the division, the higher up the list they will appear on each day.
Also if you're unfamiliar with the English league structure I indicate the level at which an individual league sits in the national 'pyramid' with the Premier League at the top (Level 1) and various minor leagues at the bottom (Level 10). Typically a top level game will see crowds of anywhere between 20,000-60,000. These figures will gradually decline as you go down the leagues until you get to Levels 8-10 where attendances of 150 or less are most common.

It should also be noted that the top four levels are for fully professional teams. Level 5 has a mixture of professional and semi-professional teams, while Levels 6-10 will see most players paid but it will vary from no more than travel expenses at the bottom, right up to several hundred pounds a week at the top.

MIDWEEK MATCH MAP
Monday fixtures - yellow pin
Tuesday fixtures - green pin
Wednesday fixtures - turquoise pin
Thursday fixtures - purple pin
Friday fixtures - black pin

Sunday fixtures - orange pin

TLFG: 27 October - 2 November 2025

Greetings one and all and welcome to this week's TLFG.

I actually had a whole weekend off and was able to pack it with sport - a rarity for me!

On Saturday morning I did my first parkrun in ages, taking part in the 14th anniversary edition of the event at Gunnersbury Park alongside some of Actonians' 3rd XI players.

Although I'm way off the fitness I used to have, I was very pleased with my time of 25.49 so onwards and upwards.

My brother was supposed to be visiting from Bristol in the afternoon but his car broke down and I took up the invitation to watch my first ever women's rugby match instead.

Defender Jennie Brereton was Actonians' star player against Watford

A friend of mine is a rugby coach and ref and has been asking me along to Ealing Trailfinders for a long time and with the women's team playing Exeter Chiefs, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.

I actually held my wedding reception there over 20 years ago and hadn't been back since.

To say the place had changed would be an understatement!

We had a marquee on what is now the first-team pitch which has stands at either end and a TV commentary/broadcast tower on one side.

For £10 I got to watch two teams packed with international stars from the recent Women's World Cup and I got ridiculously close to the action.

The food and drink options were great and there were loads of activities for kids.

Sadly Trailfinders lost 24-12 but it was still a great way to spend an afternoon.

Sunday saw normal service resume as I headed out to Greenford to watch Actonians take on Watford in the Women's FA Cup.

The A's started as significant underdogs and when they fell behind after only three minutes, the predicted defeat looked a certainty.

Although they competed well throughout and forced a number of chances in the second half, the Hornets were clinical, took their chances and won 5-0.

Next up, the team face back-to-back derbies against London Bees and QPR on Sunday.

As it stands, I can't attend either but I'm hopeful for a shift change on Thursday which could help me out.

It's half term for my kids, so I haven't got time to do a 'Daily Digest' just yet but you've got the match maps.

That's it for now, so have a great week.

UPDATE - my Saturday preview is now available below

THE WEEK AHEAD

This week's highlights include matches in the Premier League, EFL and it's also the First Round proper of the FA Cup.

In the women's game, the WSL returns after an international break and there's a full programme of games in the lower divisions with games in midweek and on Sunday.

As always, please make sure you check with clubs before you travel just in case a game has been called off or the venue or kick-off time has changed - this is highly possible for some of the lower non-league clubs and development matches. Also, please let me know if anything is wrong or missing.

TLFG WEEKEND DIGEST
In the following section, I list what are in my opinion the most notable games of the weekend and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Saturday 1 November

Premier League
Crystal Palace v Brentford @3pm - fresh from their EFL Cup win at Liverpool on Wednesday, the Eagles will look to end their three game winless run in the league. However, they're going to have to do it against a Bees side who are in good form. The west London club arrive at Selhurst Park on the back of three straight wins in all competitions so it could be quite a scrap. Tickets are only available to members whilst hospitality starts at £450+
Fulham v Wolverhampton Wanderers @3pm - talking of form, these two are in desperately short supply of the stuff at the moment. The Cottagers have lost four on the bounce to sit just above the relegation zone whilst Wolves are rock bottom. On paper, it's definitely not the sexiest fixture in town and consequently there are tickets available
Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea @530pm - the biggest match of the weekend kicks off at teatime as these two fierce London rivals meet for what is always a hotly anticipated contest. It's not often that Spurs find themselves several places above the Blues in the table but that's the way things stand at the moment. A win for the hosts could see them go second. Tickets are only available to members but you can get hospitality for £399

Championship
Charlton Athletic v Swansea City @3pm - with only three defeats from their first 12, the newly promoted Addicks are in the top six and making a fine start to life back in the division. Here they play midtable opposition from Wales who are making their first trip to The Valley since 2019. On that occasion they won 2-1 and will no doubt hope for something similar to happen this time. Tickets
QPR v Ipswich Town @3pm - the R's were storming up the table but two defeats from their last three have tempered expectations. Next up they face an Ipswich side just down from the Premier League and struggling to find their feet. Two points below QPR in midtable, they don't have a great record at Loftus Road. Aside from a win on their last visit in 2023, they lost every game prior to that going back to 2010. Tickets
Watford v Middlesbrough @3pm - the Hornets have been models of inconsistency this season so it's no surprise to find them in 14th. Saturday's opponents are second in the table so should be very tough to beat but they have only won two of their last six so there's a chance. Tickets

FA Cup First Round
One of the major moments of the English football calendar is here. This is the point in the competition where League One and League Two sides enter the draw alongside all the remaining non-league teams who made it through the qualifying rounds. The prize money starts getting really serious too with the winners of each tie receiving £47,750 and the losers £15,800. The draw is also no longer regionalised so clubs can end up going anywhere. The following ties are being played in London:

AFC Wimbledon v Gateshead @3pm - to highlight the openness of the draw we have this tie which sees non-league Gateshead have to travel all the way down from the north-east to the south London suburbs. The Dons are in the top six in League One so should start as strong favourites. Tickets
Boreham Wood v Crawley Town @3pm - there's a very real chance of an upset at Meadow Park where the non-league Wood, who have a decent FA Cup pedigree, welcome one of League Two's strugglers. Tickets
Bromley v Bristol Rovers @3pm - there's an all League Two contest at Hayes Lane where the Ravens should start as marginal favourites. Five points above the Gas in midtable, the hosts will be looking to replicate last season's run to the Third Round which was the best in their history. Tickets
Sutton United v AFC Telford United @3pm - the U's have one of the most famous FA Cup histories of any non-league club with numerous scalps of much higher-ranked teams claimed over the years. This time they're the ones in danger of suffering a humiliation. Currently bottom of the fifth tier and in real trouble, they welcome a side from the division below. Tickets
Wealdstone v Southend United @3pm - although both these non-league sides would've probably been disappointed to draw each other (they're in the same division), they know the chances of getting to the next round and banking the prize money are pretty high. When they last played in September, the Stones won a thrilling game 3-2 in front of their biggest crowd of the season. An even bigger crowd should be expected here (the away allocation has sold out) so I'd advise buying tickets in advance as the ground is small

Women's Super League
Chelsea v London City Lionesses @12pm - if you want an early game then head to Stamford Bridge to see the reigning champions take on the new upstarts who head over from south-east London. After some time off for the international break, it will be interesting to see how these teams perform. If you're a groundhopper, this can easily be combined with a number of games including the ones at Fulham and QPR. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier
Dartford v Welling United @3pm - I'm a bit short on time this week so when it comes to non-league I'm just going to pick out some games which really leap out at me. This seventh-tier match is a big derby between two local rivals. Both sides are used to playing at a higher level but have hit a bad patch over the last few years and are both now in the seventh tier. The Darts are fifth and pushing to get back up but the Wings are struggling and on course for a second consecutive relegation. Dartford won their other derby at Cray Wanderers last week in front of over 1,000 fans so I'd expect to see another bumper crowd here. Tickets

Southern League Division 1 Central
Hadley v Enfield @3pm - in the eighth tier we've got a north London derby at Brickfield Lane. The hosts have been in play-off contention but they've slipped outside the top five and need to win here to stay in touch. Enfield used to be one of the biggest names in non-league football but around 20 years ago it all went wrong and the club became defunct. Two clubs now exist - Enfield Town who play in the sixth tier and remain in the town and Enfield who don't have their own ground and play home games outside London. They're down in the relegation zone and will do well to get anything here. Tickets are £10 on the gate

Essex Senior League
Barking v Romford @3pm - in east London we've got a groundshare derby at Mayesbrook Park. The Blues, who are the landlords, are having the better season. Currently third, they could go top with a win. Romford won the FA Vase in 2024 but haven't been able to push on from that great day and are in the bottom five. Tickets are £10 on the gate

SSML Division 1
Everett Rovers v Ampthill Town @3pm - the hosts' amazing unbeaten run is still ongoing. Remember, this club are playing in the 10th tier for the first time after promotion. After 15 games they've yet to lose and are nine points clear at the top. Here they face the team in fourth who have a couple of games in hand so the record could be strongly tested. Tickets should be around £7 on the gate
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 2 November

Premier League
West Ham United v Newcastle United @2pm - it's fair to say that both these sides have made disappointing starts to the season. Already on to the second manager of the campaign, the Hammers are second bottom with only one win from nine games. New boss Nuno Espirito Santo is still looking for his first victory since leaving Nottingham Forest. As for the Magpies, after qualifying for the Champions League last season, they've become the archetypal midtable club with three wins, three draws and three defeats and are in the bottom half. An away win looks the more likely as Newcastle seem to enjoy their trips to London Stadium - they won there last season and are unbeaten on their last six visits. Tickets

Women's Super League
Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool @2pm - just a mile and a half to the north at the same time, we have the pick of the day's women's action. Brisbane Road plays host to Spurs as they look to get back into the top three. Their chances look good as the Reds are second bottom and have lost every game. Online ticket sales have ended but you can purchase on arrival for £10

FAWNL Southern Premier
AFC Wimbledon v AFC Bournemouth @2pm - the Dons return to Imperial Fields for a very challenging fixture. This season has been a struggle and last weekend saw them bow out of the FA Cup at home to Chatham Town who play a level below them. However, they responded brilliantly to win 3-0 at Lewes in the league on Wednesday to keep themselves out of the bottom two. Here they face the leaders who retook top spot from Watford in midweek with a 2-1 win over Oxford United. The Cherries are unbeaten this season and the hosts will do really well to get anything here. Tickets

FAWNL Division 1 South East
Actonians v QPR @2pm - game of the day in the fourth tier is this west London derby at North Greenford United's ground. After three straight defeats in all competitions, the A's picked up an impressive 2-1 away win at London Bees on Thursday to cut the gap on the top six to four points. The R's also did well, becoming the first team to take a point of leaders Fulham with a 1-1 draw on Wednesday. Not only do these teams come from neighbouring areas of London but QPR have Actonians' most successful management duo in the dugout and one of their former players. On paper, the visitors should be marginal favourites but strange things happen in these matches. Tickets

TLFG: 20-26 October 2025

Greetings everyone and welcome to this week's TLFG.

I've been at work all weekend and I'm about to head in again so it's just match maps from me at this stage - hopefully I'll get time later today (Monday) to get some previews up.

We've got a pretty full programme of games to enjoy over the next seven days with something happening every day.

For those of you, like me, who love a random international friendly then Brazil v Senegal next month at Arsenal's ground sounds like a lot of fun - having had a very quick look at tickets, the cheapest ones at £27.50 appear to be in the upper tier behind the goals. Everything in the lower tier appears to be £60+ so get in quick to get a good price.

My live football watching this week should take me to North Greenford United on Sunday to watch Actonians take on Watford in a Women's FA Cup tie.

The money from winning ties in this competition is absolutely essential for independent women's clubs like the A's, so there was huge groan when the Hornets were named as opponents as they are the highest-ranked team in the draw. The chances of beating them are tiny, especially when your goalkeeper gets themselves suspended after being sent off in the last minute the week before!

Anyway, I've got get the kids to school and get in to Waterloo to train some new staff - have a great week.

THE WEEK AHEAD

This week's highlights include matches in the Champions League, Premier League, EFL, National League and FA Trophy.

There's an international break in the women's game so the First Round 'proper' of the Women's FA Cup takes centre stage with teams from the third to seventh tiers taking part.

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Monday 20 October

Premier League
West Ham United v Brentford @8pm - all London derbies are important but with both sides in the bottom five, this one is of extra significance. With one win from seven, the Hammers have made a very poor start and have dispensed with the services of manager Graham Potter already. New man Nuno Espirito Santo is still to get his first win but he'll be eyeing this game as a great opportunity. The Bees have been little better with only two wins and they'll find themselves on level points with members of the bottom three if they lose this. Tickets

Isthmian League Cup Third Round
Carshalton Athletic v Binfield @745pm - if you'd prefer a non-league option then head south to Colston Avenue where the hosts should start as strong favourites against Binfield who play in the division below them. Tickets
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 21 October

UEFA Champions League
Arsenal v Atletico Madrid @8pm - the Gunners are one of six teams with a 100% record in the Champions League. Wins over Athletic Bilbao and Olympiakos were good but Atletico should represent a further step up in class. The sides last met in the Europa League in 2018 and it was the Spanish side who win 2-1 on aggregate over two legs. Tickets are only available to members

Championship
Millwall v Stoke City @745pm - after winning their big derby at QPR on Saturday, the Lions come into this in sixth. The Potters are third after their win over Wrexham and are unbeaten in four. It's another big one for the south London club who could go third if they win. Tickets

EFL Trophy
Barnet v Cambridge United @745pm - the Bees welcome Group H leaders Cambridge to The Hive for a game in this less than popular competition. Although not a huge hit with fans, it does offer League Two sides a very real shot at getting to Wembley which is just down the road from this ground. Tickets

National League Cup
There are also a couple of games in this competition as teams in the fifth tier take on sides from Premier League academies. Sutton United welcome a young side from West Ham United whilst Wealdstone entertain Nottingham Forest. Both matches start at 7pm and you can get tickets on the gate

National League South
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Hemel Hempstead Town @745pm - one of the longest name combos in English football is ours to enjoy on Tuesday. The Beavers lost their big game against Weston-super-Mare on Saturday to extend their winless run to five games. HHT are sixth and preparing for an FA Cup First Round trip to Wigan Athletic. Tickets

Southern League Premier South
Chertsey Town v Sholing @745pm - game of the day in the seventh tier sees the Curfews welcome opposition from Hampshire. Only goal difference is keeping the visitors out of the play-off places so it could be a tough evening for the hosts who are down in midtable. Tickets

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 22 October

UEFA Champions League
Chelsea v Ajax @8pm - with one win between them, neither of these sides have made a great start to their European campaigns. The Blues come into this on the back of three straight wins in all competitions so should start as strong favourites against an Ajax side who've won less than half of their Eredivisie games this season. Tickets are only available to members

Championship
Watford v West Bromwich Albion @745pm - with one defeat from four, the Hornets are 15th and five points adrift of the play-off places. The Baggies, at the time of writing, are in the top six and should provide a very stern test for the hosts. Tickets

Isthmian League South Central
Kingstonian v Moneyfields @745pm - after some managerial upheaval, the K's are getting things back on track. With two defeats in their last six, they find themselves 14th in this eighth-tier division. The visitors, who come from Portsmouth, are second in the form table and fifth in the real table. They beat title contenders Raynes Park Vale in their last game so the hosts will do well to win. Tickets

CCL Premier South
Balham v Cobham @745pm - the hosts, who groundshare at Tooting & Mitcham, are pottering along in midtable so the main reason to watch this game is to check out the visitors. Cobham are top of this ninth-tier division, four points clear with two games in hand on their nearest rivals Fleet Town. Tickets are £8 on the gate

Women's Southern Counties Competition
Middlesex v Kent @730pm - being played at Rectory Park in Northolt, the hosts are the defending champions in this four team tournament which also features sides representing the Essex and Army FAs. QPR legend Kasha Petit is taking charge of Middlesex for the first time as manager. The squad is usually made up of players from clubs like the R's, Actonians, Ashford Town, Brentford and London Bees. I think admission is free but it shouldn't be more than £5
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 23 October

UEFA Conference League
Crystal Palace v AEK Larnaca @8pm - with one game played, it's incredibly early days in this competition. Aside from the Intertoto Cup, this will be the Eagles' first proper European home match in their history. After a fine away win over Dynamo Kiev in their first away game, here they welcome a side from Cyprus. They began with a thumping 4-0 win over Dutch club AZ so they could make life tricky for the hosts. Despite being an historic fixture for the club, tickets are on general sale

L&SE Women's League D1 North
Clapton CFC v AFC Greenwich Borough @745pm - if you'd prefer a women's game or can't afford £40+ for the match above, then why not head to the Old Spotted Dog and see a match at London's oldest ground? These sides are neck-and-neck in the middle of this sixth tier division so it should be competitive. Tickets are £5 on the gate
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 24 October

U21 Matches
Three U21 games dominate proceedings in the capital on Friday. The match between West Ham United and Aston Villa at the Hammers' Rush Green facility is the most eye-catching. Fulham entertain Derby County at their training ground in Motspur Park whilst QPR host Cardiff City at Hanwell Town's ground. All matches start at 7pm and should be no more than £5 on the gate

ECL Division 1 South
Lymore Gardens v Dunmow Town @745pm - on the east side of town, there are three games in this 10th-tier division. The hosts in this game are fighting hard for top spot with Newbury Forest who they groundshare with. Lymore are second but are on level points with Forest and have played a game less. Dunmow are down in 14th and should be beaten. Tickets are £7 on the gate
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 25 October

Premier League
Chelsea v Sunderland @3pm - I am not the most avid watcher of the Premier League, I don't have any skin in the game so why should I be that bothered, but I do keep abreast of it. Although I've heard some positive chatter about the Mackems, who are back in this division after several years away, I don't think it's reflected just how well they've been doing. Seventh after eight games, they're on level points with the Blues and could give them a really tough afternoon. Tickets are only available to members but hospitality is available from £275
Brentford v Liverpool @8pm - the Bees pick up the Saturday 8pm slot for what seems like the third time this season. Apparently it's to allow Liverpool's players a few extra hours recovery after their midweek Champions League trip to Germany. The Reds ended their disappointing run with a 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in that game and will head to the GTech confident of picking up another one. Expected to struggle this season, Brentford picked up a crucial win at West Ham on Monday to move themselves into the relative comfort of midtable. They've had a good record against some of the big clubs since they joined the Premier League but they've now lost five in a row against the reigning league champions. Tickets are only available to members and hospitality has sold out

Championship
Millwall v Leicester City @3pm - back-to-back wins in big games against QPR and Stoke have taken the Lions up to the heady heights of third. In terms of average attendance, Millwall are one of the smallest clubs in this division so to be competing for promotion is some achievement by Alex Neil and his staff. The Foxes, back down from the Premier League, were supposed to be among the challengers but with only four wins from 11 games, they're down in ninth and eight points behind leaders Coventry. With one win in six, Marti Cifuentes' side could well become the latest team to come unstuck here. Tickets

League One
AFC Wimbledon v Burton Albion @3pm - the Dons are another side to be confounding a few predictions. New to this level after promotion, they're in the top four and top of the six-game form table. However, most of the sides beaten in that run were from the lower reaches of the table and Burton also fit this description. With three wins from 12, they're in the bottom three. One other point to note, the Midlands club have become a bit of bogey team for the Londoners in recent years and are now unbeaten in nine games against them. Tickets
Leyton Orient v Lincoln City @3pm - after the thumping 4-0 victory over Doncaster, the O's poor form returned as they lost 1-0 to Rotherham. Only a point above the relegation zone, things are looking rather gloomy at Brisbane Road right now. The Imps head south with a place in the top five to defend. They achieved it after last Saturday's superb 1-0 win over title contenders Stevenage so it could well be another tough afternoon for the hosts. Tickets

League Two
Bromley v MK Dons @3pm - after a positive start, the Ravens' form has dropped right off. With one win in six, they're down to 13th. Sadly for them, they're running into promotion chasing MK Dons during a real purple patch and they could go top here if they win and other results go their way. Tickets

Premier League 2
Chelsea v Arsenal @2pm - the Blues are starting to make a strange habit of scheduling U21 games on Saturday afternoons, especially when the first team are in action. It seems even more strange when it's one of their academy side's biggest fixtures but that's the way it is. It provides a great alternative if you're a Chelsea or Arsenal fan who can't get/afford tickets for the first team though. It's being played at Kingsmeadow near Kingston. Tickets

National League
Wealdstone v Sutton United @3pm - these two London clubs have managed only three wins between them over their last 10 games. The Stones are picking up the odd draw too so they're still in 11th and not doing too badly but as for the U's, it's not looking very good at all. Chris Agutter has been brought in as manager from Worthing and since he took over, he's managed a couple of draws in the league and a replay win over Farnham in the FA Cup. Things need to improve soon or they'll be heading down. Tickets

National League South
Hornchurch v Hampton & Richmond Borough @3pm - the Urchins saw their spell at the top of the sixth tier come to an end on Tuesday. They'd played a game more than Weston-super-Mare and whilst the east Londoners were in cup action, WSM thrashed Slough Town 5-1 to jump above them. Only one goal now separates them so they're still very much in the title race. Hampton & Richmond also looked like promotion contenders a few weeks ago but their midweek loss to Hemel Hempstead was their third in a row and took their winless run to six games as they slipped to 12th. Tickets

Isthman League Premier
Cray Wanderers v Dartford @3pm - many clubs in the seventh tier are either in FA Trophy action or simply have the week off. Not these two though and what a prospect this is. Two local rivals on the south-east side of town who are both in the top six of this seventh-tier division. I'd expect a good few hundred for this, possibly pushing 1,000. Tickets

FA Trophy First Round
Walton & Hersham v Hendon @3pm - no new clubs enter the draw at this stage so there are 32 ties around the country made up of the surviving clubs from the seventh and eighth tiers. In TLFG's catchment area, the Swans are the only ones to be playing at home. On paper, the Southern League Premier South leaders should start as strong favourites against the Greens who play a level below them. However, they did cause a notable upset by beating Dulwich Hamlet in the last round. A lot may depend on whether the hosts rotate their squad as promotion must be the main focus of their campaign this season. Tickets

Isthmian League South East
AFC Croydon Athletic v Herne Bay @3pm - again, the FA Trophy means a lot of our local eighth-tier teams aren't in action on Saturday but this game should be worth a watch. With 12 games played, two points separate the top three. The Rams are currently third so a win here could put them back on top. Standing in their way are Kent seaside club Herne Bay who are sixth and heading to London on the back of four wins from their last five. Tickets should be in the region of £10 and available on the gate

CCL Premier South
Cobham v Redhill @3pm - game of the day in the ninth tier sees the leaders welcome the side in fourth. The Hammers have made a fantastic start to the season and are already four points clear at the top with two games in hand on second placed Fleet Town. Redhill were part of last season's famous three-way title race which ended with deducted points and all kinds of off-field drama - they ultimately lost in the play-offs. Nine points behind Cobham and having played a game more, they're going to have to up their levels significantly to get back into title contention again. Tickets are £8 on the gate

SSML Division 1
Everett Rovers v Eaton Socon @3pm - one of the stories of the season continues in the 10th tier where the newly promoted hosts continue to impress in their first campaign at this level. Unbeaten after 13 league games and with only one draw, they're three points clear at the top. Sitting four points behind them in third but with a game in hand are Eaton Socon. Hailing from St Neots in Cambridgeshire, they've only lost one of their 12 games so this will go some way to showing us just how good Everett are. Tickets will be available on the gate for around £7-8
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 26 October

Premier League
Arsenal v Crystal Palace @2pm - this derby tops the bill on Sunday and should produce an intriguing contest. Although the Gunners are top of the league, the Eagles have been one of the toughest sides to beat in recent months. However, signs that their golden spell is coming to end are starting to show. Now three without a win after losing at home to AEK Larnaca in the Conference League, Oliver Glasner's side are going to have to seriously up their game here. This match will also be the first match between the sides since Eberechi Eze's big move to the Emirates so all eyes will be on him. Tickets are only available to members and the last remaining hospitality packages start at £1,095!

Women's FA Cup First Round
Most of the action in London on Sunday is in this competition. With the qualifying rounds out of the way, the bigger clubs start to enter the draw. Today's ties will see teams from the third tier join the surviving sides from the fourth to seventh tiers. The winners of each tie receive £6,000 and the losers £1,500. There are several ties around the capital:

Actonians v Watford @2pm - when the Hornets came out of the hat, as A's fan my heart sank. At the time, they were second in the third tier and hence one of the toughest sides we could've drawn. Since then, they've gone top so are THE toughest side we could've drawn. This is one of the biggest matches in Actonians' history and the odds are well and truly stacked against them. Last week, the team's goalkeeper got sent off in the last minute so a frantic search for a replacement has been underway all week - I believe someone has been recruited. The last time these sides met in a friendly in 2023, the Hornets won 13-0 but they were a second-tier club with Michelle Agyemang on their books. I'll be there and so can you - tickets are £6 and the match is at North Greenford United
AFC Wimbledon v Chatham Town @2pm - the Dons have made a disappointing start to the season. Sitting just above the relegation zone in the third tier, they also made an early exit from the FAWNL Cup largely thanks to administrative error. Here they face a solid side from the division below who could give them problems - there is definitely cupset potential. This is being played at Plough Lane and tickets are available
Brentford v Sutton United @3pm - this tie pits two fifth-tier teams against each other and I can only see one winner. The Bees are currently top of the division with a 100% record and beat Sutton 3-1 in September. In Gabrielle Williams, the U's have one of the best strikers in the division but I doubt that will be enough. This is being played at Bedfont Sports and admission is apparently free
Dartford v Forest Green Rovers @2pm - the Darts are one of Brentford's main rivals in the fifth tier and they took the big scalp of QPR in the last round, going through on penalties. Here they play a side who are top of a parallel fifth-tier division in the south-west. In theory it should be really close so let's see what happens. This is being played at Princes Park but I can find absolutely nothing about admission prices - it shouldn't be more than £5 though
Fulham v South London @2pm - if Actonians look set for a tough afternoon, then I really feel for the visitors here. The Cottagers are top of their fourth-tier division and looking like certainties for promotion. South London, on the other hand, are one of the last remaining seventh-tier clubs left in the draw and given the way women's football works, they'll do really well to keep the score to single figures. This is being played at Fulham's training ground. Tickets
Haringey Borough v Bristol Rovers @2pm - I really like the look of this tie, I'm not sure why but I just do. If all goes according to plan, then Rovers should complete a comfortable victory. Doing very well in their fourth-tier division, they should have too much for Haringey who play a level below. However, something tells me this might not be as straightforward as they might hope. It's free entry here too
Hashtag United v Oxford United @3pm - last season this all-third tier clash would've been one to watch. Sadly, as has been mentioned often on here, the Tags are a shadow of last season's title contenders and are in the bottom two instead. On paper, fifth placed Oxford should win but they only managed a 1-1 draw in the league here at the start of the month. This is being played at Aveley and tickets are £5 on the gate
London Bees v Barking @2pm - the hosts are third in the fourth tier and will probably be pretty happy to have drawn a Blues side from the lower reaches of the division below. Dan McKimm's side struggle against the really good sides but tend to mercilessly dispatch those below them as Colchester United discovered in the last round, losing 10-1. The only spark of hope for the visitors is striker Laura Bunton who scored a whopping 35 goals for them last season and has got 10 again already. This is being played at The Hive complex, not the stadium, and tickets are available
Millwall Lionesses v Cheltenham Town @2pm - fifth in their fifth-tier division, the Lionesses face a tough afternoon against a Robins side from two levels above them. Cheltenham haven't had a great start to their third-tier campaign but they should have enough to win through. This is being played at St Paul's Sports Ground near Rotherhithe station.I haven't seen any ticket details but it shouldn't be more than £5

TLFG: 13-19 October 2025

Welcome to the latest edition of TLFG, it's great to have you along.

How has your week been?

I actually made it to two games for the first time in a while - Friday's U21 match between QPR and Watford at Loftus Road which finished 1-1 and Actonians' 2-1 loss to Chatham Town at Berkeley Fields on Sunday.

I'm pleased to report that I made it to past the 100 mark when I went to donate blood platelets and plasma on Tuesday - hats off to regular TLFG reader Liam who actually works in my local clinic and stuck the ceremonial needle in my arm!

I'm off for a run with him shortly as we continue our A-Z of London football club adventures. It's been three months since we went to Millwall and today (Monday) we're hoping to get to North Greenford United for our N.

Tickets for this spicy derby are on general sale

I think that's about it from me for now, I'll hopefully update the blog with a detailed look at the weekend's games by Friday.

Lastly, it was the 14th anniversary of this blog last week so many thanks again to everyone who has very kindly donated to TLFG's coffee-drinking fund over the years and kept it going - it's hugely appreciated.

THE WEEK AHEAD

This week sees the return of the Premier League and Championship following the international break.

Aside from matches in League Two and the National League, it's also the next round of the FA Vase and several county cup competitions.

In the women's game, we have the next batch of games in the Champions League, WSL Cup and FAWNL Cup.

Friday fixtures - black pin

WEEKEND MATCH MAP
Saturday fixtures - blue pin
Sunday fixtures - orange pin

TLFG DAILY DIGEST
In the following section, I list what are in my opinion the most notable games of the week and give some brief reasons for my choice. Check the maps above for kick-off times, ticket info and directions.

Monday 13 October

Isthmian League Premier
Carshalton Athletic v Burgess Hill Town @745pm - these two seventh-tier clubs last met just three weeks ago in the reverse fixture down in Sussex. On that occasion the Robins won 4-2. Currently 11th, just a point ahead of BHT, you'd like to think we'll have an equally competitive game here. Tickets

Isthmian League North
Redbridge v Takeley @745pm - the Motormen recorded a tidy 3-1 win at Tilbury on Saturday to move into the top four in this eighth-tier division. Next up they face Takeley, who are playing at this level for the first time in their history following their promotion from the Essex Senior League. Based near Stansted Airport, they've found the step up a challenge and are in the bottom three. Tickets are £10 on the gate

CCL Division 1
RB Kensington v Bedfont @745pm - RBK have moved their home games to Northwood this year and it hasn't gone well, failing to win any of the seven games played there so far this season. Next up they face a side who are fourth and very much in the promotion race - it looks like being another tough evening. The hosts no longer have an online presence so I don't know how much they charge but it shouldn't be more than £7

FA Youth Cup Third Round Qualifying
Walton & Hersham v Chatham Town @745pm - the next round of the country's most prestigious U18 competition gets underway this week. The Swans beat local rivals Abbey Rangers 3-2 in the last round whilst the Chats scraped past Whitstable Town on penalties. Again I'm not sure about admission but it won't be much, it could even be free

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 14 October

FA Cup Fourth Round Qualifying Round Replay
Sutton United v Farnham Town @745pm - the fifth tier U's needed a 98th-minute equaliser to salvage a 3-3 draw and narrowly avoid a cupset to a side from two levels below them. To be fair, Surrey club Farnham are not a normal seventh-tier team and have spent a lot of money as they've moved rapidly up the divisions in recent seasons. Despite playing higher up the pyramid, Sutton are struggling this season and they'll have to up their game to avoid defeat here. Tickets

Professional Development League
Brentford v QPR @7pm - these clubs' U21 sides met in last season's Premier League Cup Final which was played at Loftus Road and saw the R's win 3-1. It was quite an occasion which saw 8,000 tickets issued - way more than the few hundred which usually get sold for these sort of games. On Tuesday, the two meet in a league game and it seems as if the clubs are trying to build this rivalry. The match is being played at the GTech and an away allocation of nearly 2,000 tickets has been given to QPR although how many they've sold is unclear. Tickets are £5 for adults so it's now just a case of picking which end you want to go in - Brentford or QPR

Middlesex Senior Cup Second Round
Barnet v Southall @745pm - the Bees have entered a side into this competition again. How strong it is remains to be seen but this is apparently being played at The Hive. The 'All play in the eighth tier so the chance to play at a League Two ground is a great opportunity for them. Neither side have posted any ticket details yet but it will probably be around £10

Southern League Premier South
Walton & Hersham v Havant & Waterlooville @745pm - the Swans beat Wimborne 1-0 on Saturday to stay two points clear at the top of this seventh-tier division. Here they welcome a side who've spent most of the last decade in the divisions of the National League. They came down last year and finished sixth, to just miss the play-offs. They've made a slower start this time and are down in lower midtable but have two games in hand which if won would put them right back in promotion contention. Tickets

Isthmian League South Central
Egham Town v Raynes Park Vale @745pm - in the eighth tier I like the look of this game at the Runnymede Stadium. Right out on the far western border of TLFG's catchment area, the Sarnies have made a good start to life back at this level after promotion from the Combined Counties League. Up to seventh, following a 2-1 win at Fareham Town on Saturday, things are going well. On Tuesday they welcome RPV who held on to second with a 3-0 win over AFC Portchester this weekend. Tickets are £10 on the gate

ECL Division 1 South
Clapton CFC v Rayleigh Town @745pm - nothing really grabs me in the ninth tier but in the tenth, this one does. Being played at the Old Spotted Dog, London's oldest ground, the hosts always draw fantastic crowds for the level they play at (a whopping 1,057 on Saturday) and should get 200-300 for this midweek match. Sitting sixth, just outside the play-off places, they face a Rayleigh side who are seventh so there's plenty to play for. Tickets are £5 on the gate
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 15 October

UEFA Women's Champions League
Chelsea v Paris FC @8pm - the Blues have looked less than their best over the last couple of weeks but a narrow 1-0 win over Spurs on Sunday kept them top of the WSL. Their first match in the Champions League saw them draw 1-1 in the Netherlands with FC Twente whilst Paris only managed a 2-2 draw with Belgian side OH Leuven. On paper, this should be a home win but whether it will be a convincing one remains to be seen. This is being played at Stamford Bridge and tickets are available

Middlesex Senior Cup Second Round
QPR U21 v Hendon @745pm - the R's academy will be putting a side out two nights running as they've committed to competing in this competition too. Being played at Hanwell Town, I've heard talk that this might be more of an U18 side which takes on the Greens. As a matter of note, Hendon are the most successful club in this competition's long history with 15 titles. The last came in 2018 when they beat Staines Town on penalties. Tickets are £5 on the gate

Southern League Division 1 Central
London Lions v Aylesbury United @745pm - aside from Hadley, most TLFG clubs in this eighth-tier division are really struggling this season. The Lions, who are the capital's top club for Jewish players, sit just above the relegation zone on goal difference. The visiting Ducks are two points above them so getting something here is crucial. Admission details have been difficult to find but expect something in the region of £10

London Senior Cup Second Round
SOUL Tower Hamlets v Leyton Orient @745pm - there's a bit of a buzz developing around STH. They had a great run in the FA Cup and now they've also moved to the top of the Essex Senior League following their promotion to ninth tier last season. Here they go back into cup mode as they welcome a squad from on of their local EFL sides. Although the O's could put out a full-strength team, this is much more likely to be a development side. This match is being played at Mile End Stadium, a short walk from the Tube. Tickets

CCL Division 1
PFC Victoria London v Chalfont St Peter @745pm - another side to have made a great start are PFCVL. This club, with its roots in the capital's Polish community, have been on a steady upward trajectory over the last decade and are one point clear at the top of this 10th-tier division. I remember first hearing about them in 2017 when their coach Emil Kot got in touch with me wanting help promoting their Non-League Day game against North Acton whilst still at 12th-tier team. I went along and they had 350 people turn up. Since then, they've enjoyed two promotions and are now among the frontrunners for a move up again. Chalfont St Peter seem to be going in the opposite direction, having suffered relegations in 2022 and 2024 and they're in trouble again. This is being played at Ashford Town near Heathrow. Tickets shouldn't be more than £8 but I'm not certain as the club never reply to any of my messages

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 17 October

Isthmian League North
Redbridge v Mildenhall Town @745pm - if they win earlier in the week, the Motormen could be third by the time this kicks off. Suffolk club Mildenhall are trying to stay in the play-off race and have a midweek game too - if they win it, they could be a top-eight side themselves. Tickets are £10 on the gate

Essex Senior League
Woodford Town v Athletic Newham @745pm - the hosts made a blistering start to the season. Going far in the FA Cup and top of this league, their form has suddenly left them. Winless in three and with only two wins in their last six, they've slipped to fifth after only managing a 2-2 draw at bottom club Frenford. Next up they play the second bottom club who've only recorded one league win all season. Tickets are £7 on the gate
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 18 October

Premier League
Crystal Palace v AFC Bournemouth @3pm - all the city's top clubs return from their international break this weekend. Not many would've predicted these two being in the top six by the middle of October but they are. Both have only one suffered one league defeat so far this season so we should be on for a good game. Interestingly, the Cherries are unbeaten in four against the Eagles. Tickets are only available to members but hospitality packages are available from £486
Fulham v Arsenal @530pm - after back-to-back defeats, the Cottagers are down to 14th. Next up they take on the leaders. The Gunners have only lost once and are one point ahead of Liverpool at the top. However, they've only won one of the last four against Fulham. Tickets are only available to people with a previous purchasing history but hospitality packages are available form £418.80

Championship
QPR v Millwall @1230pm - this tasty derby gets the day's action underway at lunchtime. Always lively affairs, these two come into this one as top-eight clubs so there's quite a bit to play for too. The Lions usually always sell out their away allocation and this year is no different. Despite creating a great atmosphere for their team, Millwall rarely win at Loftus Road with only one victory from their last 15 visits. As for the R's, they're unbeaten since August and in the best form they've been in for a while. Tickets
Charlton Athletic v Sheffield Wednesday @3pm - this season will probably be all about consolidation for the Addicks following their promotion. With three wins, three draws and three defeats, they are the very definition of a midtable team and they'll probably be satisfied with that. The Owls are in terrible trouble off the pitch so it's no surprise to find them in the relegation zone. However, with only one defeat in four, they're giving it their best shot. Tickets

League Two
Barnet v Notts County @3pm - after an unsure start to life back in the fourth tier, the Bees are really finding their feet. Now unbeaten in five, they're up to seventh and in the play-off places. Although the visitors are down in 13th, they're in good form too and could put up quite a fight. Tickets

Premier League International Cup
Chelsea v Dinamo Zagreb @2pm - if you need a 2pm kick-off or want to scout some of Europe's top talent, then head to Kingsmeadow for this U21 game. This is the Blues' first group stage game this year whilst Dinamo opened their campaign with a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest last month. Forest won this competition last season so that was a decent result. Tickets

National League
Boreham Wood v Eastleigh @3pm - the hosts are in cracking form. With only one league defeat, they're fifth and last weekend's win at Eastbourne Borough put them in the FA Cup First Round for the sixth year running. After parting with boss Kelvin Davis, the Spitfires have gone on a four-game unbeaten run under new manager Scott Bartlett who came in from Weston-super-Mare. The last time these sides met at Meadow Park, they produced a 4-4 draw so hopefully there'll be plenty of goals on this occasion too. Tickets
Sutton United v Hartlepool United @530pm - in the day's late game, the struggling U's will go in search of only their second league win of the season. Their spirits will hopefully have been boosted by Tuesday's FA Cup replay win over Farnham Town but top-half opposition like Hartlepool should provide a sterner test. This can easily be combined with the Isthmian League game at Carshalton Athletic if you want to see two matches on Saturday. Tickets

National League South
Hampton & Richmond Borough v Weston-super-Mare @3pm - although TLFG club Hornchurch are top of this division, the game of the day in the sixth tier sees two of the sides in the play-off places meet at The Beveree. The hosts are just about hanging on to their place in the top seven after failing to win any of their last four. WSM, on the other hand, are second and still getting used to life without their manager following his move to Eastleigh (the side who beat Hampton in the FA Cup last week). Scott Rogers has taken over and, aside from defeat to a decent Totton side, has carried on their winning run. Tickets

Isthmian League Premier
Dartford v Potters Bar Town @3pm - there's a spectacular lack of games in the seventh tier on Saturday and the ones we do have are all pretty unremarkable. The Darts are the highest ranked team who are playing at home. Seventh, they could move into the play-off places with a win over struggling PBT who are in the bottom three. Tickets

Southern League Division 1 Central
London Lions v Leighton Town @3pm - it's a similar story in the eighth tier but in Leighton we get to see a table-topping side in action. One point clear at the top with a game or two in hand on all the teams below them, they've made a great start. They head to Rowley Lane unbeaten and should start as strong favourites against the Lions who have only just pulled themselves out of the relegation zone. Tickets are £10 on the gate

SCEFL Premier
Erith & Belvedere v Whitstable Town @3pm - the pick of the action in the ninth tier sees the Deres, who currently top this division, take on the reigning FA Vase champions. Although Whitstable are down in ninth, five points behind the hosts, they have five games in hand after a fabulous run in the FA Cup. If the Oystermen don't come through and challenge hard for the title, something will have gone seriously wrong. Tickets are £8 on the gate

FA Vase First Round
With the qualifying rounds out of the way, this competition reaches its 'proper' stage. Contested by teams in the ninth and tenth tiers, the survivors from qualifying are joined by the 23 teams who lost in the Third Round last year and didn't get promoted to the eighth tier. The draw is regionalised until the Fourth Round. There are several ties in London, here are my selection:

Fisher v Steyning Town @3pm - the Fish are only 12th in the ninth tier SCEFL Premier but they have games in hand on most of those above them, which if won would put them comfortably in the top five. They've only made it to the Second Round twice and they shouldn't find it easy against a Steyning side who are third in the parallel SCFL Premier. Tickets are £8 on the gate
SOUL Tower Hamlets v Letchworth Garden City Eagles @3pm - STH are top of the ninth tier Essex Senior League which should make them among the clubs expected to go deep into this competition. On Saturday they face a team who are struggling in a division a level below them so they should make smooth progress. Tickets
Lymore Gardens v Framlingham Town @3pm - the hosts, who groundshare with Redbridge, are playing in the FA Vase for the first time and have already made it this far. Top of the tenth tier ECL Division 1 South, they are having a season to savour. Having already beaten Woodford Town, one of the top teams in the division above them, this game against another tenth-tier side from Suffolk shouldn't faze them. Tickets are £7 on the gate
Molesey v Haywards Heath Town @3pm - the Moles are a midtable tenth-tier team so the chances of them beating HHT are slim. The visitors are currently top of the ninth tier SCFL Premier so, like SOUL Tower Hamlets, they should be expected to go far. Tickets are £7
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 19 October

Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa @2pm - with only one league defeat this season, Spurs are third in the top flight. They're also unbeaten in the Champions League and through to the last 16 in the EFL Cup - you could say it's going quite well for new boss Thomas Frank. The same can't be said for Villa, who've started slowly in the league, but their fortunes appear to be on the up. Now four without defeat in the league and with a 100% record in the Europa League, the Birmingham club seem to be building some momentum. Villa have also won on two of their last three visits to N17 so the north London club should approach this with caution. Tickets are only available to members but hospitality packages are available from £149

Women's League Cup
The WSL and WSL2 take a week off but the clubs involved in those divisions play group stage games in this competition instead. Like the men's EFL Cup, many clubs use these matches to give a few squad players a run-out so don't expect to see all the normal stars in action especially ahead of next week's women's international break

Group C
Charlton Athletic v Portsmouth @12pm - if you need an early kick-off then this game between two teams in the second tier could be for you. In theory, the hosts should win as they're top of WSL2 whilst Pompey are bottom. However, in this group, they're both without a win. This is being played at The Valley. Tickets UPDATE - MATCH OFF

Group D
London City Lionesses v Leicester City @2pm - the only all-WSL game takes place at Bromley's ground. If you're not a follower of the women's game, LCL are the first independent women's club to make it to the WSL. With three wins from six games, they're holding their own. The Foxes were expected to struggle this season but to be ninth after five games isn't too bad. Both teams won their opening Group D games, so this could go a long way towards deciding who finishes first and second. Tickets
Crystal Palace v Ipswich Town @2pm - in the other game we have two WSL2 sides who lost their opening group games to the pair above. On league form, the Eagles should start as favourites. This is being played at Sutton United. Tickets

Group E
Tottenham Hotspur v Birmingham City @2pm - Spurs have had a much better than expected start to their WSL season. After narrowly losing to leaders Chelsea 1-0 on Sunday, they're in fourth after six games. In this competition, they drew 0-0 with Aston Villa in their opening game but beat them on penalties to receive two points. It was the same for Birmingham who enjoyed a penalty win over Bristol City. The Blues are second in WSL2 so should be capable of giving a rotated Tottenham XI a good game. This is being played at Leyton Orient. Tickets

FAWNL Cup First Round
This competition is the nearest female equivalent to the men's EFL Trophy as it's open to third and fourth tier teams plus academy sides from clubs in the top two divisions. After a group stage, we're now at the knockout stage consisting of 32 teams. The following ties are taking place in TLFG's area:

Hashtag United v Lewes @3pm - first up is this all-third tier contest. The Tags were one of the strongest teams at this level last season but their finances and squad have changed dramatically and they'll do well to avoid relegation. Here they face a Rooks side who sit in midtable and, for me, start as favourites. This is being played at Aveley and tickets are £5 on the gate
Dulwich Hamlet v Chatham Town @2pm - one of the bigger crowds of the day at this level should be found at Champion Hill where the Hamlet always pull in a few hundred. These sides play in the same fourth-tier division and on current form, the visitors should win. Tickets
QPR v AFC Bournemouth @2pm - the R's are fourth in their fourth tier division and looking pretty solid for the level. However, the Cherries are second in the division above and looking strong. In the group stage, they won all three games, scored 11 goals and conceded none. If a strong Bournemouth side make the trip, it'll take a huge performance to beat them. This is being played at Hanwell Town. Tickets are £5 on the gate
